Meet Mr. Johann Binks

Henry and I were bored on Thursday night and decided that we needed a pet. Since we both are allergic to cats, dogs, birds and horses, we decided the only option was a fish. I've never had a fish before but was excited about the idea of buying one. We first went to Petco who had a terrible selection of sickly looking fish. We ended up going to Denny's Pet World. They were extremely helpful and showed us a half a dozen tanks to pick from. Henry and I went back and forth about which kind we wanted, Beta, Goldfish, Googly Goldfish etc. He wanted one the ones with googly eyes but they're pretty ugly! Plus they have trouble finding their food. If we were going to get a fish, doggonit, I wanted a cute and intelligent one. I ended up picking the species we wanted and Henry picked the fish.

So, meet the newest addition to our "family." Mr. Johann Binks!

I'm happy to say that he's still alive even after 5 days. If you read my post about our inability to keep any living thing alive (plants) then you should be proud he has made it this long! I think Mr. Binks is beginning to like us now since he no longer is scared of people near his bowl.

Ok, ok I won't keep going on about a FISH. But, if i could write this much about a fish, think about a length of blog posts when I have kids someday. Yikes, scary!

I have a Crafting Problem

Two of my personal attributes make a deadly combination: my type-A go, go, go attitude with my love for crafting. I have so many craft projects going on at one time at my place that I'm not sure I can even remember them all.In one night, I started by making pot holders (random) to making a fleece quilt (not a small undertaking). And, the night before that, I made Henry a Whrrl coaster with my new craft cutting machine, got up-to-date on my scrap booking and even knocked out some home made thank you cards. Remember, it's only Tuesday! Recently, I made my mom a window covering, a quilt for my dad out of running t-shirts and bought a book about painting. I also tried candle making (which I do not recommend unless you want nasty smelling strangely discolored candles) and jewelry making. I think I have craft A.D.D.

Enter Henry and Cari's Condo

  • Entryway - cluttered with new box from Overstock with colored vinyl (rad)
  • Kitchen - need to put away cake decorating utensils (note to others, cake decorating supplies to NOT work on homemade pizzas, don't ask...)
  • Kitchen table - I'm not sure there is a table under all these fleece square I'm sewing together to make a mega fleece quilt
  • Office - Silhouette craft cutting machine taking up Henry's side of the desk (sorry Henry, I'll TRY to have it gone before you get home)
  • (numbered list interrupted because I had to call my mom about dimensions for sewing a table runner for the cabin)
  • Bedroom - tubs of fabric and quilt batting exploding all over the room - blame it on indoor hurricane?

Shoot, why am I wasting this time writing about my mess and not actually cleaning it up? To add to the mess, I'm NOT going to clean up, I am actually on my way to Michael's and the fabric store.(Back from Michaels and fabric store and have decided next undertaking is making drapery panels)

Am I turning into one of those crazy old craft obsessive people? If ANYONE gets a crocheted vest with animal applique for Christmas, please stage an intervention.

Yay for Silhouette SD

I need to I mention to you the greatest crafting creation known to woman and the object of my infatuation and admiration. The Silhouette SD Cutter. This thing rocks my world. It works like a normal printer, you hook it up to your computer, pick a graphic, click print and BAM, it cuts the shapes out. It cuts them out of paper and vinyl! This may not sound significant to those of you who aren't obsessed with crafting but it means I can scrapbook, make greeting cards, vinyl wall art, even templates for glass etching. I better not say too much more before I start spoiling all your Christmas gifts. This thing is awesome!Ok, ok, so I do admit that I am a bit of a craft nerd. But don't worry, I'm not off to join the Amish community anytime soon!
